and how this will help me in the SEO process….

No. It doesn’t help at all with SEO
Why? Back in the day people were all about Meta tags since that is what search engines used. Search Engines pretty much ignore most meta tags today.
The ones you should still do
- description
- keywords but dont get carried away
- noodp – no DMOZ description should be used
- noydir – no yahoo directory description should be used
- robots=”nofollow” – for pages you want to exclude from search engines
